How to Use VIA with Your Zuoya GMK Keyboard

The Zuoya GMK is compatible with VIA, a powerful and user-friendly software that allows you to customize your keyboard's keymap, lighting, and more. Follow these steps to get started:

Step 1: Visit the VIA webpage 

  1. Visit the official VIA website: https://usevia.app/ (VIA only works on Chromium based browsers like Google Chrome currently)

Step 2: Connect Your Zuoya GMK Keyboard

  1. Plug your Zuoya GMK keyboard into your computer using the provided USB-C cable, and make sure it is in WIRED mode. 

Step 3: Download JSON file

  1. Download the JSON file for your keyboard from the downloads page in Mecha Malaysia. 

  2. From there, scroll down till you find the JSON file for your version of Zuoya GMK.

  3. Once you have downloaded the JSON file, go to the settings to turn on the 'DESIGN' tab. You only need to do it once, your browser will remember your settings.

  4.  Drag the JSON file into the upload area.

  5.  Press authorize. If the JSON file is correct, your keyboard layout will now appear in the 'CONFIGURE' tab. 

Step 4: Customize Your Keyboard

  1. In VIA, navigate to the "Keymap" tab.

  2. Click on any key to assign a new function or macro.

Using the Image Custom Tool for Screen Design

The Image Custom Tool allows you to upload your own GIFs for your Zuoya GMK keyboard.

Here's how to use it:

Step 1: Download the Image Custom Tool

  1. Download the Image Custom Tool

  2.  Download the software onto your computer.

Step 2: Upload Your Image

  1. Click on the "Upload Image" button.


  2. Select the image file you wish to use for your screen design, either picture or animation. 

  3. Select upload all frame after you have selected the image or animation you want.


  4. Do note that image and GIF upload time will vary depending on how big the file is.
     
  5. You can have up to two images or GIFs at a time. Use FN + Enter to swap between them. 



How to Swap Wireless and Wired Modes

To change modes, there is a switch on the back of the keyboard to toggle between the three modes which are bluetooth, 2.4ghz dongle, and wired mode.

Wired Mode

  1. Set the toggle switch to the middle position labeled USB.

  2. Connect the USB cable to your computer.

  3. The keyboard's screen will light up, indicating a successful connection.


 Bluetooth Mode

  1. Move the toggle switch to the left position labeled BT.

  2. Press and hold FN + Q, FN + W, or FN + E for 3–5 seconds to enter pairing mode. The corresponding device indicator (e.g., BT1, BT2, or BT3) will flash rapidly.

  3. On your device, enable Bluetooth and select the corresponding device name (e.g., ZUOYA GMK-1 for FN + Q).

  4. Once connected, the device indicator will stop flashing and remain lit.

  5. To switch between paired devices, press FN + Q, FN + W, or FN + E.


 2.4GHz Wireless Mode

  1. Set the toggle switch to the right position labeled 2.4G.

  2. Insert the 2.4GHz receiver into your computer's USB port. The device indicator will flash rapidly.

  3. Press and hold FN + R for 3–5 seconds to enter pairing mode. The indicator will flash quickly.

  4. Once the connection is successful, the indicator will stop flashing and remain lit.
